Good morning AFS families,
Today all students will have the opportunity to practice their performances for tomorrow night. They will also get to see all the other classes performances. We are SOOO excited to share the work with everyone tomorrow night.
- If your child is NOT able to attend on Thursday evening, please let me (the classroom teacher) know ASAP. Every child has a part in their puppet play, and if some students are not able to come, classes need to find other students to take over their roles. Some students are still unsure if they are attending, so please discuss your plans with your child. If they cannot attend tomorrow, they will still get to participate during today's dress rehearsal.
- Tomorrow, students need to be at the school at 5pm and will go directly to their classroom. The first performance begins at 5:15, so it is important that they are on time. Students can be picked up from their classrooms at 7:30, after the final performance. Classroom teachers will be supervising them in the classroom when they are not performing.
- Students may bring dinner or snacks to eat in between their performances.
Volunteers
Thank you to the six parents who have already volunteered to support our performance tomorrow evening. We are still in need of a bathroom helper/hallway monitor during the first performance and an adult to support room 7 (kindergarten) during the second performance. If you have your clearance and are able to help please let us know.
Regarding Class Placements for the 2025-2026 School Year
In the new school year your child will be assigned to a classroom. All students will receive notification from their teacher on Friday, August 29. If we are able to, we will continue to plan and welcome our complex learners to school that morning (August 29), as outlined in their transition plan in their IPP, to meet their new teacher.
Working in grade-level teams, our staff members take into consideration many variables when assigning your child to their classroom. They include demographics such as age and gender, maturation, abilities and talents, and relationships amongst the students to create the best overall groupings. Please be assured our decisions are based on the best interest of your child and their unique academic, social and behavioural needs within the school context. If you require clarification about the process, or have information you would like us to consider in our vigorous process, please contact administration prior to May 30, 2025.
School Council and Parent Society AGM Meetings
We hope to see everyone at our school council and parent society AGM meetings on Thursday May 8, starting at 7pm. We'll be meeting in person and an online link will be shared next week. These meetings requires a miniumum of 5 non-elected people to attend. If you have been to a meeting this year, please join us for another one, if you haven't been to a meeting yet, now's the time! Thanks for your support.
Have a great day.
