Good afternoon AFS Families,

We only have 3 more days with your children in 2025!

If you think your child has lost an item, please remind them to check the Lost and Found tomorrow (Wednesday). All the items will be donated at the end of day tomorrow.

Holiday lunch is on Thursday, thank you again to school council and parent society for providing food to all students. We are looking forward to spending time with our buddies and celebrating the season. We know there are a lot of parents and grandparents who are coming on Thursday to make this event a success. Thank you to ALL the adults who support us in so many ways.

If you haven’t signed up to volunteer, and you have your CBE police clearance, and you are free on Thursday morning, please contact Natasha, the society president, afes.society.pres@gmail.com or Christine, the council chair, alexfergusonschoolcouncil@gmail.com to let them know you’d like to support.

Kindergarten parents, please plan to pick up your child at 12:05 on Thursday so they can participate in the lunch. Kindergarten students registered in OSC will be picked up as appropriate.

Cough and flu season is well underway. Thank you for keeping your children home when they are sick. Thank you to all the parents who have arranged to pick up their children when they become sick.  When calling or emailing to let us know that your child will be staying home, please share the symptoms they have (fever, cough, running nose, etc.). We are required to keep track of this information in our documentation. Thanks for your help.

If your child was in room 2, 4, 5, or 6 today they received a surprise bag. Each reusable bag contains a Go Go Squeeze, granola bar, and gummies. Students were instructed to take them home to show their parents. We hope they enjoy this festive donation from a local charity.

Please join me in welcoming back Mrs. Warkentin. She has returned to room 5 and her resource role at AFS. We are so thankful she is back! Ms. Mendoza is still also with room 5 and will be here for the remainder of the school year.

Starting in January we will also be welcoming Ms. Neufeld to our teaching team. She will be teaching our music program for the remainder of the school year. Mrs. Jackson is not able to return to AFS, we wish her all the best and hope to see her again some time.

With the colder weather, if your child is in need of any warmer clothing (snow pants, coats, toques, mitts, boots, etc.) please let us know. We have a few of each in the basement that are waiting to be shared with students who can use them.

Have a safe couple of weeks. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year, 8:38 sharp on Monday January 5!
