Good afternoon AFS Families,
Unfortunately we have a lot of ill students at the moment. Based on the number of students who are away from school due to illness Alex Ferguson School has been put on outbreak status by AHS (Alberta Health Services). Please see attached letter from AHS. Notice of Respiratory Illness Outbreak at: Alexander Ferguson School
What does this mean at school?
- As always, we will be sending your children home if they come to school ill, or become ill while they are at school. Please be prepared to pick up your child quickly should they get sick while at school
- As always, please keep your child(ren) home if they are sick
- Cleaning protocols, while always implemented well by Mr. Ming, are increased during an outbreak
For our council and society meetings this evening, we already have a hybrid meeting planned. We will move this meeting to online only due to the size of the learning commons and (hopefully) the large turn out for the SDP (school development plan) meeting this evening. We hope to see you tonight, online, at 7 PM.
For grades 4, 5, 6 students. We are not able to go to Richmond School tomorrow for our presentation. We are able to have Paul Davis visit us at Alex Ferguson School, therefore all grades 4, 5, 6 students will still benefit from this experience.
For our Paul Davis parent presentation tomorrow (Friday) evening, we will continue with this presentation. This gathering is in the gymnasium. We encourage everyone to wear masks and to practice social distancing as appropriate. Hand sanitizer is available at the front door of the school, as well as at both entrances to the gym. We look forward to learning more from Paul Davis tomorrow evening with all parents.
Thank you for your understanding. Thank you to everyone who has kept their ill children at home this week, for all those who have called in to let us know symptoms, as well as those who have stopped by to pick up their children when needed. If your child is not ill, but unable to come to school for other reasons, please share clearly so we can record and report illnesses accurately to AHS.
Stay safe, and warm.
Helen Sharpe
