Happy New Year AFS families
We all enjoyed welcoming your children back into the building this week. We hope you enjoyed your week as well!
Looking ahead there are a lot of amazing opportunities for your child to participate in over the next few months. Wet felting, fit set ninja, Aaron and Trudy (shadow puppetry and Djembe drumming), ducks, and report cards will all be happening soon! Please take some time to look at our school calendar and learn more about what your child is up to each day. Thank you to everyone who has already returned their onsite field trip forms, next week the artist in residence forms will be coming home. We sure do like paperwork around here! Thank you for completing all forms in a timely manner to support our focus on learning. It is appreciated.
The Parent Society is in need of more volunteers to fill our casino volunteer requirements.
There are 20+ spots left that need to be filled, and we can NOT run or profit from this casino unless all spots are filled. Volunteers can sign up here: Alexander Ferguson Parent Society: Elbow River Casino - Volunteers Needed! In addition there are 12 back up spots that need to be filled, just in case someone is not available to complete their volunteer position at the last minute.
The profits the school is allocated from this volunteer opportunity go towards math/music/PE/social/science supplies for the classrooms, as well as books for the learning commons, residencies (like the upcoming fit set ninja), field trip costs and much more. All the children at the school really benefit from these funds, for reference our last casino (about 18 months ago) resulted in $80,000 for the school! This is such a great opportunity for our school and we need support to make this happen. Anyone over the age of 18 years old can volunteer, and no police check is required.
Thank you again to those who have already signed up!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. We look forward to seeing your children again tomorrow morning.
