As you may have read, report cards will be available to view through your MyCBE on Tuesday February 24. The CBE website outlines what has recently changed, and what has remained the same, related to the indicators (1, 2, 3, 4) represent on the report card. Please take 6 minutes and 40 seconds to watch the video to better understand your child’s report card. Many of you will have already seen our How is My Child Doing in School? document. If you’d like a refresher, or you’re new to the CBE, this document also provides insight into reporting and assessment at the CBE.

You might be wondering when Netball will be happening at AFS. Unfortunately the paperwork required by CBE for organizations to operate in our buildings was not able to be completed in time for our planned residency last week. We are looking forward to welcoming Jeff Stockton in February to start our storytelling residency, look for forms coming home in the next few weeks to ensure your child will participate in that opportunity. If you haven’t already done so, please mark your calendars for the evening showcases on Wednesday April 29 and Thursday April 30. Presentations will be organized by families, and students will only be sharing on one of the two evenings. More information coming soon!

This month students are learning foundational gymnastics skills during their time in the gymnasium. Below is the checklist for all students to use prior to utilizing the equipment. Thank you for your help to ensure that all students are able to participate safely.  If you'd like to stop by during your child's PE&W (Physical Education and Wellness) class on Thursday January 29 to see what they have been learning please do so. Contact your child's teacher, or read their weekly message, for the specific time your child(ren) will be in the gym.

A reminder from CBE: Dogs on School Property

This is a reminder that CBE Administrative Regulation AR6004 - Animals in Schools restricts animals on school property. Dogs are not permitted on school grounds except where expressly approved under AR6004 (e.g., service animals or authorized educational purposes).
Additionally, the City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw prohibits dogs on school property, including playgrounds and fields.
Thank you to everyone who remains off school grounds, including pathways, with their dogs. We appreciate your respect and consideration.

We look forward to seeing you tonight at the school council meeting.
