Happy Friday AFS families!

Thank you to all parents who were able to navigate the online system to meet with teachers for conferences last night and this morning. We appreciate your flexibility and support in working together to educate your children.

Thank you to school council / parent society for providing teachers lunch today. In the past you have provided a feast on Thursday evening, which is so greatly appreciated. This week most teachers were at home completing conferences, the lunch today really hits the spot and is a beautiful way to wrap up our time together in our staff meeting before we also start spring break!

Thank you also to the 35 people who have taken time to complete our engagement survey. Results will be shared on the AFS website on Tuesday April 8, and will be part of the administrative presentation on Thursday April 10 at our next school council meeting. If you haven’t already done so, please try to find 10 minutes to share your input. The survey closes on March 31, 10 days left to share your thoughts!

Exciting news, Mr. Ming is back! This means that our evening celebration of learning on Thursday May 1 can go ahead as planned. There will be two shows, 5:15 – 6:00 and 6:25 – 7:10. We need ALL students here for both performances. Please plan to have your child at school for 5pm on Thursday May 1, and pick them up at 7:15pm. Please join us for one of the shows. We’re doing the same thing twice so we are able to invite all families to join us in our small gym 😉

We all return on Monday March 31, which is only 1 week before the AFS society casino. The funds from our past casino are paying for our time with Aaron and Trudy, we are so thankful for all the financial support that the casinos provide. The volunteer support is needed for all events, including the casino. There are only a few positions left: Countroom supervisor both nights (11:00pm – 3:45am), and Chip Runner on Tuesday night (6:45pm – 3:45am). No previous experience is required for any of the positions. Please help out if you can, Monday April 7 and Tuesday April 8. There are also back up positions still available, which are important to have filled in case someone gets sick at the last minute.

Fundraisers such as Purdy’s chocolates provide funds for other school events such as the school dance (save the date – May 22 – more info coming soon). The deadline to purchase chocolates happens this weekend. Take a look and get your chocolates delivered straight to the school!

  • Happy Nowruz to all who celebrated yesterday.
  • Ramadan Mubarak to all who are observing Ramadan at this time. Enjoy your Eid celebrations next weekend.

Have a safe and relaxing spring break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday March 31.

Your AFS administrative staff,

Helen Sharpe and Matthew Littel
