It’s council and society meeting week! PLEASE plan to join us on Thursday evening for the AGMs. We MUST have 5 parents, other than those that usually attend, present for voting. ALL the “usual” parents have stepped up to hold roles on the society next year, they can’t vote themselves in! Class Lists

As mentioned, we are already looking at our first draft of class lists for September 2024. We plan to finalised them when we return to school in August, but the process starts now. If you have any information about your child that you would like us to take into consideration when creating these lists please email Helen. For more information about all the variables we do take into consideration please check out the AFS website.

Staff Appreciation

Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to organize a staff appreciation lunch on Monday June 3. If you are able to support this event please sign up here. As this event will be happening during school hours volunteers at school will require a police clearance. Thank you, very much, for supporting our school and letting us know how much you appreciate all we do. We feel the love on a regular basis.

U Turns

We have noticed an increase in the number of U turns that are made outside the school. This is a school zone, and not an intersection. There are also 2 signs in front of our school that highlight NO u-turns are allowed. According to the Edmonton Police Service (I can’t find anything on the CPS site – can you?) these are the guidelines for when u-turns are not permitted:

  • At any intersection that is controlled with three phase traffic control lights (red, yellow, green)
  • Any urban roadway between intersections (urban road way is defined as not a country road)
  • Crosswalks
  • Where prohibited by a sign
  • A roadway with access to a commercial driveway
  • A roadway with access to an alleyway
  • Within 150 meters of the top/crest of a hill

This allows for u-turns in limited intersections, NOT in the middle of roads, NOT need crosswalks. We appreciate that we are all busy and need to get to where we need to go. PLEASE do so safely, drive around the block if required to get your vehicle headed in the right direction. Thank you.
