Wednesday September 16 marked the annual Community Connections Day (formerly Gully Day) at Alexander Ferguson School (AFS). This year saw the return of Doug Driediger, local artist, community resident, former AFS parent and council member. Over the summer he revitalised the mural that was originally created 28 years ago. During Community Connections he shared the original story with all our current students as well as sharing all the behind the scenes stories about the 31 hidden items within the mural. 

We also welcomed back David Wenzel, our community scavenger hunt organizer. David completed research about the land surrounding our schools current location and created multiple tasks last year, this year he built on that learning and went into more depth about the history of the land. Students worked in partnership to find symbols throughout the Gully area, shared their findings, and determined missing pieces. At the end of the day the collective learning across the classes resulted in a secret code to open a puzzle box, revealing a key to more treasures! Classes now have the opportunity to continue the learning in their classes throughout the school year.
