As we prepare for our upcoming Remembrance Day Assembly, we invite our school community to come together to honour those who have served and continue to serve our country. We would love your support and participation in making this a meaningful event for our students.

FOOD BANK DONATIONS (October 27 – November 10)

In the spirit of giving and supporting our community, we will be collecting non-perishable food donations for the Veteran’s Food Bank.

Donation boxes will be available beginning Tuesday, October 27 near the main office doors, along the wall beneath the TV. Families are welcome to send donations with their children anytime between October 27 and November 10.

Suggested non-perishable food items include:

  • Canned vegetables, fruit, tomatoes, and soups
  • Canned meat, fish, beans, and lentils
  • Pasta, rice, and pasta sauce (canned or in plastic packaging)
  • Peanut butter
  • Cereal and oatmeal
  • Granola bars and individually packaged school snacks
  • Baby formula

Please ensure all donated items are unopened, in their original packaging, and within their best-before or expiry dates. Kindly avoid glass containers, homemade foods, and damaged packaging.

HONORING OUR FAMILY VETERANS

We are creating a special slideshow for our assembly to recognize veterans connected to our school community. If your family has a veteran who has served, we would love to include them!

If you have a family member who has served, please email the following information to rmtrisevic@cbe.ab.ca:

  • A photo of the veteran
  • The veteran's name and rank/title (if applicable)
  • The student's name or family name
  • The veteran's relationship to the student (e.g., grandfather, aunt, great-grandparent)

**Please submit your veterans photo and information no later than Tuesday November 3rd so we can collect and include it for the assembly slideshow.

REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY

As always, families are welcome to attend our school Remembrance Day Assembly on Tuesday November 10th at 10:30am. The front doors will be open 10 minutes prior to the assembly so families can gather in the gym before students arrive.

STUDENT CADETS

If your child is involved in a cadet program, they are warmly invited to wear their cadet uniform to our Remembrance Day Assembly.

VETERANS GUEST SPEAKERS

We would love to welcome a veteran from our school community who may be interested in sharing a few words about their experiences during our assembly. If you or someone in your family would be interested, please reach out to jmpaynter@cbe.ab.ca

POPPIES

Poppies will be available at the front office at the end of October/beginning of November.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for helping us honor the courage, service, and sacrifices of our veterans while teaching our students the importance of remembrance, gratitude, and peace.

Warm regards,

Ms. Paynter & Mrs. Trisevic
